Madara closes his eyes on the battlefield with the world's kage and the remnants of his dead dream around him and wakes up nearly ninety years before just after Konoha was founded. Unlike some, he doesn't see this as a second chance to fix his wrongs- just as a torture keeping him from the death and rest he wanted. His path is hopeless, he realizes, and the best thing he can do is remove himself out of the way and let Hashirama continue like he had the first time.

To Hashirama, it quickly becomes apparent that there is something very, very wrong with his best friend, and he doesn't know if he can find out what in time to help- if Madara even wants to be helped.

It could be his second chance, to rebuild his family and find happiness, if Madara would allow himself to have it.
